PESHAWAR - Two personnel of elite police force were gunned down by unknown armed men in Rasheed Garhi area in jurisdiction of Yakatoot police station Friday morning.
Police sources said the two personnel of the elite police force, identified as Shah Zeb and Fahan, were on their way to duty when they came under firing of unknown motorbike riders in Rasheed Garhi area.
After the attack large number of locals and police personnel rushed to the site and shifted both the personnel to Lady Reading Hospital however they succumbed to their injuries before reaching the hospital.
Due to heavy fog, the attackers made their escape from the scene successfully. Police launched a search operation in the area and arrested several suspects.
In last couple of days, situation has badly deteriorated in Peshawar and in the surrounding areas and it was the third incident of terrorism since attack on Karkhano checkpost, which claimed lives of 10 people.
Meanwhile counter terrorism police arrested a terrorist in district Bannu who was involved in the attack on police mobile in Badhabera area.
The arrested person was identified as Sadaqatullah son of Hidayatullah resident of Suleman Khail Badhabera Peshawar.
COP SUSPENDED OVER CORRUPTION
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani has suspended a constable on charges of corruption and further ordered departmental enquiry against him.
A citizen of Peshawar Muhammad Ghufran Alam had sent an SMS complaint to the IGP wherein he alleged that constable Kifayat Khan of FRP headquarters took Rs 411,000 as bribe for enlisting him in the force but failed to enlist him and now adopting delaying tactics for return of his amount.
The IGP checked this complaint through DIG enquiry and inspection who in his finding report endorsed the allegation and recommended strict action against the constable.
The IGP in light of the recommendations of the DIG E&I suspended FRP headquarters constable Kifayat Khan with immediate effect and further ordered departmental enquiry against him.
