Ex-SSP Rao Anwar's name put on ECL: Interior Ministry

The spokesperson of interior ministry stated that name of suspended SSP Rao Anwar has been put on Exit Control List. 

The spokesperson further said that his name was put on the list under orders of Supreme Court. 

Earlier, Rao Anwar has stated that he is not fleeing country and is in Karachi. 

While talking to Waqt News exclusively, Anwar said that news of his attempt to flee the country are wrong and baseless. 

"I am in Karachi and will face every investigation against me," he said. 

The suspended SSP further said that he has expressed apprehensions on committee established for the investigation since day one. 

Earlier, Federal Investigation Agendy (FIA) at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport foiled an attempt of former SSP Malir Rao Anwaar to leave the country on bogus travelling documents, informed sources.

“Rao Anwaar has reached at BBIIAP near 12am and trying to board in Dubai bounded Emirates Airline flight Number EK-653 which was scheduled to take off at 1:30am,” sources added. They said, however, the FIA Passport and Immigration Department staffers on duty have off loaded Rao Anwaar on charges of having bogus travelling documents. Astonishingly, no law enforcement agency nabbed Rao Anwaar and allowed him to leave airport premises, sources said.

They informed Rao Anwaar in a black coloured cruiser left airport for an unknwon location along with some men in civvies who are suspected to be member of his “death squad” he formed in Karachi to kill innocent citizens in fake enounters.

SSP Rao Anwaar was made OSD face a lot of heat after killing of young man namely Naqibullah Mehsud, hails from Waziristan. The Sindh government and IG have constituted a special inquiry committee and had directed the former SSP to face the investigators. However, the defiant SSP Rao Anwaar disobeyed the orders of his high ups and tried to flee from county via BBIIAP.
