4 dacoits held

LAHORE Four alleged dacoits were arrested red-handed minutes after they snatched Rs 80, 000 from a citizen who had drawn money from State Bank and was on his way back to home in Old Anarkali police area on Friday. Two of the dacoits were rounded up by traffic wardens deputed at Napeer Road. As per details, one Mahmood, a resident of Chapper Stop, had drawn Rs 80, 000 from the bank but four dacoits held him hostage on gunpoint after he had hardly covered a few yards from the bank. Meanwhile, two police personnel of Muhafiz Squad intercepted the dacoits and managed to arrest two of them whereas their other accomplices managed to escape from the crime scene. A handout issued from the City Traffic Police office said that two traffic wardens namely Shahid and Ameen rounded up the fleeing dacoits and recovered money and weapons. The dacoits were identified as Maqsood, Ashfaq, Sabir and Altaf. Later, they were handed over to the Old Anarkali police for further interrogation. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Ahmed Mobin announced cash prize and commendatory certificates for the industrious wardens.
