QUETTA - Unidentified assailants killed a senior leader of Balochistan National Party (Mengal) and three others in Khuzdar district, some 360km away from the provincial capital on Friday. BNP-Mengal leader, Jumma Khan Raisani, was on his way home in his vehicle after Friday prayers when unknown armed men riding a motorbike sprayed a volley of bullets on his vehicle at Gazgi area near his residence. The deceased were taken to District Headquarter Hospital Khuzdar for autopsy. The assailants managed to flee from the scene after committing the crime. 'It seems to be a case of target killing and attackers had already taken position. However, police is making efforts to unearth real motive behind the incident, a senior police officer in Khuzdar told The Nation. Scores of BNP-Mengal workers rushed to the hospital after being informed about the murder of Jumma Khan and strongly protested his killing. BNP-Mengal while condemning the murder of Jumma Khan has announced three-day shutter down strike throughout Khuzdar district and a 10-day mourning over the killing of party leader. Meanwhile, spokesman of an underground organisation, Baloch Musla Defai Tanzeem (BMDT), Mir Jhang claimed responsibility for the killing of Jumma Khan Raisani and warned Baloch people to avoid participating gatherings of BNP, Baloch Students Organisation (Azad), Baloch National Movement and Baloch Republican Party, otherwise, they would also be targeted. It may be mentioned here that several leaders of BNP-Mengal, including its Secretary General Habib Jalib Baloch were targeted killed during past one and half year.
