OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Higher Education Secretary to call explanation from Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Chairman Akram Kashmiri for the delay in the announcement of matric results. However, Software engineer who has computerised the examination system of all eight boards of the Punjab was still stuck with his statement that result was ready and a summary has been moved through Higher Education Secretary to CM for fixation of date for the announcement. He said that it was practice being exercised for the last 10 years that all the boards after preparation of result informed Higher Education Secretary for fixation of date of announcement. He said that it was being propagated by the board staff that computerization of examination system was hurdle in the result. He alleged that certain board staff members were earning huge revenue by tempering the results and after introduction of computerized examination system, they were facing revenue loss. On the other hand Chief Minister took strict notice of the delay in the announcement of the results of matriculation examination and ordered inquiry against the authorities concerned of Lahore Board. Issuing instructions for immediately fixing the next date for this purpose, he directed that all the eight boards of examinations of the province should declare the matric results on same date. During a meeting with Provincial Education Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Secretary Higher Education Haseeb Athar and Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore here on Friday, the Chief Minister took strict notice of the delay in the announcement of matric results and said that declaration of examination results on the fixed date is of vital importance as any delay in this regard causes difficulty to the students as well as their parents. He also issued instructions for calling explanation of Chairman Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Lahore and directed that the date for announcement of complete and error-free matric results should immediately fixed and information technology experts should also be inducted in the process. He said that computerization of examination system is a revolutionary step of Punjab government which has helped in purging this system of the activities of corrupt mafia. Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education spokesman Qaiser Virk said that the information that the result for the Secondary School (Annual) Examination, 2011 will be declared on July 21 was based on misunderstanding because, according to PBCC version, this date was not final; and all the related arrangements had to be completed keeping in view this aspect of the issue. The information placed on website created an ambiguity in the minds of candidates as well as general public, for which the Board feels regretful. The final date for declaration of the result would soon be notified by the Higher Education Department.of Punjab government.
