LAHORE A large number of Usmania Colony residents including women on Friday staged a protest demonstration against CCPO Lahore and Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines. They alleged that on the behest of the CCPO, windows of their 150 houses were shutdown by fixing metallic sheets on them. A large number of people including children and women gathered outside the Lahore Press Club and chanted slogans against police on Friday. They said the windows opening towards the Police Lines were the only way of ventilation for them but on last Thursday, several policemen arrived and put iron fences in front of their windows. Dozens of policemen in plainclothes again approached on Friday and started erecting metallic wall and now the windows have been completely shutdown, Bibi Sharif told this reporter. She said they had been residing in Usmania Colony for the last 60 to 70 years where they had constructed small houses but Qila Gujjar Singh police had closed their windows on Friday. Two other protestors Rana Rauf and Muhammad Nasir said that they had conveyed their grievances to policemen several times but to no avail.
