OUR STAFF REPORTER FAISALABAD - The district administration is planning to establish a modern and scientific slaughterhouse to ensure qualitative as well as quantitative meat to citizens of Faisalabad. This project is being initiated under development of integrated environment friendly and hygienic slaughtering facility under public private partnership modality. To review the administrative and technical aspects of the project, a meeting was held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of DCO Naseem Sadiq which was attended by MD PHA Ashiq Dogar, EDO Community Development Asif Tarar, DO Livestock Dr Abdul Rehman and technical experts of infrastructure project development facility IPDF Ministry of Finance and NESPAK. The DCO informed that the modern slaughterhouse would be established in line with best international practices and duly compatible with applicable environment, health and safety standards through private sector participation which would not only cater to the local requirements and having the capacity to export the quality meat to earn foreign exchange. He said that the proposed slaughterhouse, having a capacity of 14,000 small and 2,800 large animals anti-mortem slaughtering, post-mortem, cold storage, solid waste disposal and marketing facilities. The DCO informed that the cattle market had been shifted out of city to Millat Road near Danaula and establishment of slaughterhouse had also been proposed near the site of animal market at 19 acres of land.
