LAHORE - Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera accompanied by provincial home minister Shujaa Khanzada and members of Cabinet Committee visited Muzaffargarh on Wednesday to inspect flood-hit areas.

The committee members are visiting flood-hit districts to monitor the relief operation besides reviewing the crimes and law and order situation in such areas, a police spokesperson said. According to an official handout, the IGP chaired a meeting in this regard in the office of district police officer (DPO) Muzaffargarh. DG Khan RPO and all senior officers of Muzaffargarh were also present in the meeting.

On this occasion, the provincial police chief was informed that Muzaffargarh police got evacuated 1200 flood victims from Rangpur and Alipur. For this purpose at least 100 Motor-boats were used. All officials of Riverine Posts are also taking part in relief operations.

The IGP asked the field officers to leave no stone unturned to help the flood victims and make proper arrangements for transportation of their cattle and belongings to safe places.

He also directed the officers to be more vigilant and arrange ensure patrolling and monitoring of the activities of criminal elements so that the flood-hit people can move towards safe places without any fear.
