PML-N's victory will prove Abbasi’s innocence: Shehbaz

In the wake of Hanif Abbasi’s sentencing in the ephedrine quota case, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has urged the party followers to vote, saying that PML-N followers’ votes would prove Abbasi’s innocence.”

“Your vote on July 25 will set all the PML-N leaders, languishing in jail, free,” he stressed. Before quoting his party’s performance, Shehbaz raised the ephedrine case verdict.

He said the court had given the date of August to announce the verdict but announced it at midnight (11pm). “Never in the history of the world has any court announced its verdict at midnight,” claimed Shehbaz.

Moreover, he criticised the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) discriminatory attitude towards PML-N, saying that no date was given to Abbasi.

The PML-N president also took a jibe at Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rashid (the other candidate in NA-60). “He [Sheikh Rashid] knew that he would be defeated with the lead of 70,000 votes and thus he took the support of the court,” said Shehbaz.

Voicing the party’s previous claims, Shehbaz lamented that PML-N was being pushed to the wall, “but we’ll break this wall and emerge victorious.”

He said that the provincial government and courts have not stopped pre-poll rigging. “If this election rigging is not stopped, I would not stop people who would rise against these tactics, I would go to any extent even at the cost of my life,” he added.

Moreover, he said that Abbasi established playgrounds and gyms in all of Punjab to promote sports and played a constructive role in the Pakistan’s development. He further said that Nawaz and Maryam were mentally tortured when they were arrested in front of each other.

Shehbaz criticised the arrest of Nawaz and his daughter by saying that he was the reason of Pakistan’s development. Shehbaz further said that the Turkish president has called him and prayed for the redemption of Nawaz and Maryam.

Taking a jibe at Imran Khan, the PML-N president said that Imran alleged that I have taken bribe and I have challenged him a 1000 times to prove his allegation. He said that if an iota of corruption in Multan Metro Bus project is proven, he would leave politics.
