ISLAMABAD - The National Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution to congratulate and pay tributes to national cricket team on its glorious victory in the final of International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty 20 Trophy. Federal Minster for Privatisation Naveed Qamar presented the resolution in the House, which was passed unanimously. Naveed extended heartiest congratulation to Pakistani cricket team for its grand win and said the entire nation was proud of its national heroes who achieved historic victory for Pakistan. It is the happiest event for the nation and the House should congratulate the cricket team by passing unanimous resolution, Naveed suggested. National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza and Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi congratulated the cricket team and the nation on the success. Like Pakistani cricket teams victory, we will also win the war on terror, the Deputy Speaker said. Riaz Hussain Pirzada of PML-Q also congratulated the cricket team and said that the world was trying to present Pakistan as a terrorist country but Pakistani cricket team proved at international level that Pakistanis were not a terrorist nation. Marvi Mamon said that the cricket team provided oxygen to the nation. She said that the issues confronting the country needed to be addressed. Bushra Gohar of ANP while congratulating cricket team said that Pakhtoons had brightened the name of the country in the world. Shireen Arshad Khan of PML-N congratulated the nation and her Quaid Nawaz Sharif on the success of the cricket team. Dr Muhammad Ayub Sheikh of MQM, Jamshad Dasti, Sardar Saleem Haider and others also congratulated and paid tribute to cricket team and the nation.
