PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly passed annual budget for fiscal year 2016-17 and finance bill along with all 59 demands for grants worth of Rs 505 billion here on Wednesday.

The opposition legislators in the KP Assembly while speaking on their cut motions criticized the performance of Revenue & Estate and Excise & Taxation departments.

The KP Assembly met with Speaker Asad Qaiser in the chair. The PML-N‘s Anma Sardar, Zarin Gul of JUI-F and ANP’s Yasmin Pir Mohammad criticized the performance of the Revenue & Estate department. 

They said that the department had pledged the computerization of land record to abolish patwari culture in the province but there is nothing on ground.

Replying to the quires raised by opposition parties, KP Minister for Revenue, Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur said that computerization of land record in district Mardan has been completed and computerization of land record in other districts would be done soon and hoped that computerization of land record would be completed by December 2017.

Presenting cut motion on the demand for grant of the Excise and Taxation Department, the opposition legislators including Sardar Hussain Babak, Zarin Gul and Noor Saleem Khan proposed review of the decision of the issuance of VIP number plates to discourage the VIP culture in the province.

In his address, Babak said that Malakand Division is a terrorism-hit region and demanded the withdrawal of the extension of Customs Act to the area.

The Minister for Excise and Taxation, Jamshidudin Kakakhel defended the issuance of VIP number plates and said if someone has borne the cost they would issue it to them. However, Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE), Shah Farman proposed that the VIP number plates should be issued to the vehicles of top tax payers of the province.

The concerned ministers moved demands for grants of their concerned departments one by one and the house adopted it with majority. 

Later, KP Minister for Finance, Muzaffar Said moved Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Bill 2016 in the house which was adopted while authenticated schedules were also tabled in the house. Later, Speaker, Asad Qaiser adjourned the proceedings of the house till Thursday 3pm.
