LAHORE (PR) - The Jannat al-Baqi Demolition Day is being observed across the country today (Shawwal 8) on the appeal of Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi, chief of the Tehrik-e-Nafaz-e-Fiqah-e-Jafaria.

Shrines of Ummahat ul Momineen, Ahl-e-Bait and holy prophets in Madina and Makkah were demolished after fall of the Ottoman Sultanate in 1924.

Protest demonstrations will be staged in 49 cities of Pakistan today and workers of the Tehrik will appeal to the United Nations to reconstruct shrines of the members of the family of the holy prophet (peace be upon him).  Moosavi said in his message on the eve of the special day that demolition of Jannat al-Baqi and Jannat al-Mu'alla was result of a conspiracy of the evil forces.

He said the Muslim world should have these shrines reconstructed.
