3 dead, 24 injured in Lahore blast

An explosion occurred in Lahore's Johar Town area on Wednesday, leaving 3 people dead and 24 injured. 

Rescue teams and bomb disposal squads have reached the site of the incident, as witnesses state that the glass windows of nearby houses have shattered due to the intensity of the explosion. The injured were transferred to Jinnah Hospital. 

A six year old child succumbed to his injuries, Jinnah hospital staff stated. The injured are under observation and being given necessary treatment. 

IG Punjab, Inam Ghani has reached the site of the explosion and expressed deep pain and offered his condolences to the families of the injured and deceased. He also stated that terrorists have not been able to do anything in Lahore for over a year and In Sha Allah everything will be under control soon. 

He also added that the it seems like the real target was the Punjab police force but the matter is being looked into. 

According to the initial reports, the blast took place in B.O.R society, Johar Town near the Ahsan Mumtaz Hospital. A spokesperson of the Rescue 1122 stated that the main cause of the blast has not been determined yet. It was either in a house or in a car.

Latest reports have confirmed that the incident took place near Hafiz Saeed's house, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Saeed is currently serving his sentence in Kot Lakhpat jail.
