KARACHI - Pakistan’s win in the Asia Cup 2012 finals on Thursday landed the citizens into jubilation. The victory over Bangladesh was celebrated all over the city.

The action-packed contest was watched on projectors and big screens in Macchar Colony, Docks, Moosa Colony, FB area, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Azam basti, Bengali Para, Korangi, Orangi Town, Karachi Arts Council, Sea View, Mumtaz Mobile Mall and at different halls and parks across the metropolis. Almost all citizens TheNation talked to said the Bangladesh side played good cricket throughout the tournament; “winning and losing is a part of the game”.

Attired in green shirts, fans of the Pakistani team could be seen everywhere, especially universities and educational institutions. They said although the Pakistani team won, the Bengal tigers stole the whole tournament by eliminating the world champion India. The slogan “Pakistan Zindabad” reverberated, as young motorcyclists, with the national flag painted on their faces, dotted all major thoroughfares and corridors.

Meanwhile, Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri and other ministers congratulated the Pakistani nation and cricket team on winning the Asia Cup 2012.
