MIRPURKHAS - Commissioner Ghulam Hussain Memon said that floodwater would be drained out positively for which measures were being taken on emergency basis.

He was presiding over a meeting of Irrigation Department officials, landlords and deputy commissioners of the division to review the ongoing campaign to drain out last year’s stagnated rainwater from the farmlands. The meeting was attended by XEN Mithrao division Abid Hussain Naich, XEN Thar division Mansoor Ahmed, landlord Sarfraz Junejo, Haji Khuda Bakhsh Dars, Sohrab Khan Mari, Sain Bakhsh Mari and others. He said that Sindh government and the district administration are making efforts to provide relief to the people and the masses should cooperate with the district administration in this connection. He directed the Director Nara Canal, Ghulam Mustafa Ujjan to visit the site and take every step removing the obstacles occurring in draining out the floodwater. He sought a report about where Hesco officials have installed electricity poles for draining out the stagnant floodwater.

Commissioner Memon further directed Deputy Commissioner Mirpurkhas Nadeemur Rehman Memon and Deputy Commissioner Sanghar Ghulam Haider Mangrio to remove the apprehensions of the affected people and ensure release of the accumulated rainwater on emergency basis.

Report said that Director Ghulam Mustafa Ujjan and Deputy Commissioner Sanghar Ghulam Haider Mangrio and others visited the disputed site near Khai and held negotiations with the Mari Kiln growers and managed to convince the growers to give a channel for releasing the water from their lands.
