Hearing adjourned

HYDERABAD - Sindh High Court Hyderabad Circuit Bench on Thursday put off the hearing of PPP leader Wahida Shah’s petition till March 29 in anticipation of a decision by the Supreme Court on its suo
motu notice on March 28. The Deputy Attorney General representing the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) informed the Bench of Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Muhammad Tasnim that the SC would take up the matter on March 28. He brought to the court’s knowledge that the SC had taken suo motu notice on an application by a civil servant that Bukhari had assaulted polling staff during February 25 by-elections in PS-53 constituency of Tando Muhammad Khan.
Disputing to the position taken by the DAG, the petitioner’s counsel advocate Jhamat Mal Jethanand argued that the SC had ordered the ECP and the returning officer to try and give a decision on the matter during the last hearing. The Bench, however, postponed the hearing asking the petitioner’s lawyer to bring a copy of the SC’s March 28 order on the next date of hearing. It also summoned the Attorney General of Pakistan and Advocate General of Sindh.
