BAHAWALPUR -Corruption is the biggest evil of the society as nations could never prosper in presence of corruption, thus zero-tolerance policy on corruption is being implemented by the Anti-Corruption Establishment in complete coordination with the National Accountability Bureau, said ACE Director General Anwar Rasheed.

The ACE Punjab will take action against corrupt elements and no leniency will be shown in this regard, he said while talking to The Nation during his visit to Bahawalpur.

He said there was shortage of staff in the department. The officials had been directed to look into the complaints on merit without taking any pressure, he said and added that steps were being taken to make ACE more effective.

He said that to improve its performance, efforts were being made. He said that corruption was an evil which has been becoming the reason for the spreading of other bad things in the society. It takes nations towards the path of destruction, he said.

He said that the Punjab chief minister had issued strict directions regarding the elimination of corruption. He added that the media and public could play important role to eliminate corruption.
