ISLAMABAD - The interior minister yesterday gave a strong worded statement after the opposition parties submitted an adjournment motion against him in the National Assembly Secretariat

The opposition parties submitted an adjournment motion against Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, saying he allegedly misled the joint sitting about the Supreme Court’s order regarding removal of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL).

The minister, the other day, had said in the joint sitting of the parliament that the government allowed former president Pervez Musharraf only after the apex court ordered to remove his name from ECL.

The interior minister in the statement said that opposition parties including Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Aitzaz Ahsan and his colleagues were coming up with flimsy accusations out of their frustration. “He (Aitzaz) should have said any thing about General Pervez Musharraf in the joint sitting,” he said and added: “Where was Aitzaz when his party leadership was finalising the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) through an under hand deal.” He questioned that Aitzaz should have raised his voice when his party leadership was entering into an agreement with Musharraf in Dubai. “There is contradiction between the sayings and actions of Aitzaz who claims himself to be a champion of democracy,” he said and added that he would answer alls queries everywhere whether in the court or in the National Assembly.
