The Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association (PSBA) Tuesday announced its six-member team to take part in the Asian Championship being played in Doha, Qatar from April 16-23.
In his statement on Tuesday, PBSA president Alamgir A Shaikh said: “We have selected a balanced combination keeping in view the fact that we are the defending champions of the title.”
The contingent comprises four players and two officials. Pakistan No 1 M Bilal, No 2 Sohail Shahzad, No 3 M Asif, and No 5 M Sajjad are the members of the team while Nisar Ali Bhagat is the team manager. The PBSA chief is accompanying the squad as a delegate to attend Asian Council of Billiard and Snooker (ACBS) annual general council meeting.
“The annual general meeting and the elections of the Executive Officers of the ACBS for the ensuing year will be held during the championship on April 21,” he added.
He said the training and practice camp of the Pakistan team would be held from March 24 at the newly-refurbished PSB Snooker Hall in Islamabad. “We are thankful to the Pakistan Sports Board for giving a new look to the snooker hall and extending full cooperation by providing best suitable training facilities to our players,” said the PBSA chief.
A formal opening ceremony of the newly-refurbished PSB Snooker Hall as well as the Asian camp would be held on April 25, he added.
