According to a report by daily Nawa-i-Waqt Multan dated May 21, WAPDA has adopted an unjust policy against smaller cites and rural areas by offering almost uninterrupted power supply to large cities while making the smaller-sized rural population bear the brunt of loadshedding. Not only that, there is inequality in distribution of pain within the same area too. For example, in Muzaffargarh city, the northern parts suffers only 2 hours of loadshedding (out of 24) whereas in the southern part beyond the Bypass Chowk, we have 12 hours of shutdowns on a daily basis. The government seems to be following a policy of giving all benefits to the privileged while the poor only get an earful of propaganda wax. -MUHAMMAD ILYAS, Muzaffargarh, May 21.
