Doctor shot dead in Quetta

QUETTA - Unidentified assailants shot dead two people, including a pathologist in yet another incident of target killing in provincial capital on Saturday. According to police, Dr Qamar Hussain, 50, a pathologist, was on his way at Sirki Road near Barech Market when unidentified armed people opened indiscriminate firing on his vehicle. As a result, Dr Qamar Hussain and his companion identified as Murtaza Hazara sustained serious wounds and rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta for treatment. However, Dr Qamar Hussain succumbed to his injuries before reaching hospital while Murtaza Hazara died in the hospital. The assassins escaped from the site after committing crime. Apparently it is an incident of target-killing, however, police are investigating into the incident to find out real causes behind the killings, said a senior police official. According to eyewitnesses, two motorcyclists sprayed bullets on Alto car of Dr Qamar Hussain and were escaping, when a person immediately get off of the car and tried to hold the attacker. At this, another attacker opened fire on him and fled. Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani has strongly condemned the killing of Dr Qamar Hussain and described it an inhuman act. He said that anti-social elements through a well-knit plan were trying to deteriorate law and order situation of the province, however, he said govt would not let their designs to be materialized. Meanwhile, spokesman of Baloch Liberation Army, identifying himself as Jeeuand calling via satellite phone claimed the responsibility for the killing of Dr Qamar Hussain and alleged that he was spying for government.
