LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that rich people, spending millions of rupees on costly and modern vehicles, should also pay their outstanding luxury cars tax immediately as government is launching public welfare projects from their tax money. According to an official handout, he said that officials of Excise and Taxation Department have been directed to implement tax collection campaign in letter and spirit. He also said that Chief Minister has announced cash prizes of Rs 2.5 million for the officials of the department who have shown outstanding performance during recovery campaign. He said Rs 560 million have recovered during the campaign against the target of Rs. 700 million, which will be achieved soon. During a meeting with various delegations, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman asked the owners of imported vehicles to pay luxury tax immediately to avoid cancellation of motor registration, confiscation of vehicle, imposition of 100 per cent fine and issuance of arrest warrants.
