LAHORE - Fire broke out at two different shoes manufacturing factories in Timber Market, Ravi Road area on Saturday owing to short-circuit which burnt shoes and other valuables worth over Rs5 million to ashes. According to the rescuers three workers went unconscious due to smoke but they were shifted to a local hospital and rescued by providing them timely medical treatment. Fire fighters, Rescue 1122 Fire Service and Edhi Ambulances rushed to the spot after the incident and started rescue operation. According to one of the factory owners Malik Sheraz, the main cause of fire was a short-circuit at 12:00pm. He said fire engulfed another shoe making factory due to chemical placed in the factory in huge quantity. Fire created panic in the area and a large number of people gathered on the spot. The owner of the factory has claimed loss of valuables worth Rs5 million. Meanwhile, two workers namely Irfan and Ashraf sustained burn injuries at a medicine company after chemical spilled out on them in Kahna police limits. CONFERENCE In order to control smuggling of Narcotics through courier companies, a conference of all courier companies operating in the City has been scheduled on 27 May (Thursday) at Regional Directorate Anti-Narcotics Force, Punjab at Sarwar Road, Lahore Cantt.
