Altaf flays assassination of Muzaffar Bhutto

KARACHI - Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the brutal murder of the general secretary of JSQM Muzaffar Bhutto.He has demanded President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and the concerned federal authorities to hold high level judicial inquiry into the disappearance brutal murder of the missing leader for almost a year. He said the elements involved should be detected and brought to justice.Altaf Hussain extended sympathies to Chairman of the JSQM Abdul Wahid Aresar, and other leaders and workers of the party and prayed for the divine forgiveness of the departed soul.MQM condemn attack on media persons: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) coordination committee has strongly condemned attack on two media persons.Aslam Khan and Muhammad Khalil, a reporter and cameraman of a private news channel were covering the Awami Tehreek rally on Napier Road in Lyari when they were attacked and injured. They termed the persecution as an attack on the freedom of press They extended sympathies and prayed for their health. MQM also stressed upon Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the incident and bring the persons involved to justice.MQM asks govt to retract power tariff hike: Legislators from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Tuesday flayed the fresh increase in power tariff and called for its immediate withdrawal.The MNAs deplored that in spite of higher prices of electricity the people were faced with incessant power cuts that had disrupted the normal life and compounded the problems of the general public. “Industries are being closed down and shifted to other countries because of prolonged power outages. It would be highly illogical to increase power charges at this critical time,” asserted the MQM leaders, and called for efforts to offset the energy crisis in the country. They demanded President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Federal Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar to retract the fresh hike forthwith.
