ISLAMABAD  – Advisor to the PM on Industries, Basharat Raja said on Monday that during the holy month of Ramazan, the govt will provide more subsidy at USC outlets as compared to the last year. He said that about 2000 new stores would be opened which would help increasing the government revenue along with creating more job opportunities for unemployed persons in the country. 
He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of super utility store in Rawalpindi. The ceremony was also attended by Managing Director USC, Maj General (Retd) Malik Muhammad Farooq. Basharat Raja, on the occasion, expressed his satisfaction over the overall performance of the corporation saying that recently the Corporation has been emerged as a profitable department of the government.He said that the USC authorities should maintain the quality of the stores. “Provision of quality items to the consumers should be our foremost purpose”, he said and added that more mega utility stores would be opened in big cities to expand the network of the Corporation. He said that the stores would now also will remain open on holidays and the timings of the stores would also be increased. Malik Muhammad Farooq, on the occasion said that the Corporation is one of few profitable departments of the government and its performance is improving further. He said that Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and Basharat Raja have given the new vision to the corporation. Briefing about the performance of USC, he said that during last four years, the USC paid Rs. 15 billion as taxes. He said during last year the Corporation’s total sale remained Rs. 68.9 billion out of which Rs 840 million remained the net profit.
