Poverty claims two lives

DASKA - Two persons including a married woman committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills over domestic disputes, in separate incidents here in the city on Tuesday.
In Sohawa-Daska, an unemployed 22-year-old Luqman Arshad committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills and died on the spot. In Muhallah Raywala Daska Kalan, a married woman Khalid also committed suicide by taking poison after a domestic dispute with her unemployed husband. Both of the deceased were laid to rest in their native graveyards.
Debit cards under BISP soon: The federal government would soon launch debit cards under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) in Sialkot district soon.
BISP Gujranwala Division Director Muhammad Aslam Niazi announced this while talking to the newsmen at Daska city here on Tuesday.  Earlier, he distributed BISP cheques (worth Rs2 million) among 13 local deserving women. Local PPP leaders Qari Zulfiqar Ali and Dr Zaheerul Hassan Rizvi were also present on the occasion.
