Rescuers find equipment, says ISPR

RAWALPINDI – The Army said on Tuesday that rescuers had found equipment at the site of a massive avalanche, which had buried 138 soldiers at Gayari Sector last month.
“During physical inspection of the area, some equipment was found,” ISPR said. It added clearance efforts continued round the clock at the sector and simultaneous efforts were being undertaken to tackle effects of water on the site in the shape of poundage, cutting and crevasses. “The water has started draining and has resulted in quick reduction of water level in the lake. Excavation work has resumed despite difficulties posed by seepage of the water at the sites, hazards of crevasses/cutting by water and sinking effects for plant equipment,” it added.
