Recently, during a TV show, the anchor mentioned Malik Meraj Khalid, who was once Pakistan’s interim Prime Minister, prior to PM Nawaz Sharif’s second government. He was praising Mr. Meraj’s sound intellect and his simple nature, and the fact that he would go around freely without much fanfare or protocol. The anchor person pointed out that we respected people who came with a lot of pomp and show, simple people were rejected and that is why we have pompous rulers now. That is true of our current society in which we respect others wealth not character or morals. Our values have degenerated as much as our society has and we should not complain as we are responsible for what is happening.
