The excise cops caught two drug paddlers, one of them a police constable, and recovered from them 4.5 kilogram heroin and one kilogram charas worth millions here on Friday. The accused were identified as Constable Rab Nawaz and Muhammad Rafiq. Sources said that the excise team was also supported by the Gulgasht Police.
Operational officer of anti-narcotics branch of the Excise Dept Malik Jalilur Rehman confirmed that the accused were caught red handed along with the consignment. "Our team set up a picket at Saidan Wali bypass and caught the accused along with drugs consignment," he added. He claimed that the recovered heroine was of premium quality and its value in international market was over Rs200m. Sources said that the accused were caught on a tip-off given by an informer, who played as a narcotics customer to lure the dealers out of their den. Sources claimed that the arrested constable had hidden the heroin and charas in maal khana and as soon as he brought out the narcotics, he was caught along with his accomplice. Police also recovered a pistol from the accused. Meanwhile, Gulgasht police registered a case against the accused and they were being quizzed by a team.
