Rawalpindi - City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi on Friday increased the fuel quota for the officials of newly formed Muhafiz Squad. He also said that he would reduce the strength of his personal and other police officers’ gunmen in order to meet shortage of police personnel and shift them to Muhafiz Squad. The CPO expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held at Police Line on Friday to distribute commendatory certificates and uniforms among Muhafiz Squad personnel. CPO Israr Ahmed, who was also flanked by SSP (Operations) Karamat Ullah Malik, said that the Muhafiz Squad was formed to curb street crimes in the city. “A significant decrease has been witnessed in street crimes in the city since the Muhafiz Squad stated patrolling on roads,” he said.
He said that the officials of Mufiz Squad have seized many stolen vehicles, motorcycles, alcohol and other stuff while patrolling on roads. He said that each Muhafiz Squad would be provided with 3 litres petrol instead of 2 litres from now.
At the end, the CPO distributed commendatory certificates and uniforms among the Muhafiz Squad.
SSP (Operations) Karamat Ullah Malik speaking on the occasion directed the officials to behave politely with the masses and not to take bribe from road users.
