ISLAMABAD - PPP Senator Latif Ansari Friday resigned from his post after the senior leadership of his party decided to award a Senate ticket to its vice-president Sherry Rehman.
After the decision of the senior party leadership to award Senate ticket to former Pakistan Ambassador to US Sherry Rehman, PPP had asked Latif Ansari to resign.
Ansari was elected senator on a general seat in the recent Senate elections held in March this year from Sindh.
Ansari on Friday sent his resignation to Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani and Senate Secretariat issued a formal notification of his resignation after the final approval of the Chairman Senate. A copy of the resignation has also been sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
