Recently, I happened to read the Economist, a popular weekly newspaper being published from London. I observed that plain language and simple vocabulary was used making the text easy to understand. I really enjoyed reading the newspaper, as I was a reader of the Pakistani English newspapers. That is usually flooded with complex structures and difficult vocabulary. Unfortunately, alongside article writers’ people sending letters to editor also follow the same pattern. I believe that as a nation we are suffering from an inferiority complex, English should be used as a vehicle of communication and not to impress others. Moreover, we readers also judge people by their ideas not by their words.
