LAHORE - Nawa-i-Waqt columnist Bushra Rehman has emphasised upon children literature specialists to consider social values of the society while writing for kids.

Addressing the national conference on “Peace and Development through Children Literature” here at local hotel yesterday, she asked the writers to produce best literature for children as they were the future of the nation.

Nawa-i-Waqt Group’s monthly magazine for children “Phool” and Academy for Children Literature jointly organised the sitting.  Bushra spoke on the topic “how to write novel for kids.”

Dr Tehseen Faraqi, known writer, addressed on topic “translation rule for children stories” and highlighted the need that government focus on promotion of literature for children.

Akhwat, a charity organisation, chairman Dr Amjad Saqib  said the media should promote positive values of the society to make good impact on youth and children.

Dr Hameeda Shaheen spoke on “children literature impact on society” and said both were linked with each other.

Known poet Amjad Islam Amjad spoke in “how to write TV drama” and Hafeez Tahir addressed on the topic “techniques to make TV drama for kids.”

Professor Hamyon Ehsan said the literature should be realistic and free from exaggeration.  Absar Abdul Ali emphasised the need for writing good poems for the children. He said good poetry made very positive impact on kids.

Dr Musarrat Kalanchvi addressed on “techniques for writing good story for children.” Editor Phool and President Pakistan Children Magazine Society regretted the government and non-government institutions had not paid attention on the promotion of children literature as it was needed.

Academy vice-chairman Hafiz Muzaffar Mohsan thanked the participants. Maulana Tariq Javid, Qari Ahmed Hashmi, Mehral Qamar and Sharmeen Qamar also spoke on occasion.

Conference was attended by more than 150 writers across the country. Senior writers were presented Hakeem Saeed Award.
