Islamabad : The Iranian Ambassador, Honardoost, has said that Iranian businessmen are keen to enhance business with their Pakistani counterparts.

Talking to the newly elected office-bearers of Pak-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PIJCCI), including President Wali Muhammad and Vice President Khursheed Barlas, who called on him here on Sunday, he said that both countries had deep rooted brotherly and friendly relations which could be further promoted by developing economic ties in different sectors.

He congratulated the office-bearers, and assured all possible cooperation for further strengthening economic relations between the two countries.

He identified dearth of trade-related information as one of the biggest reasons for low trade volume between Pakistan and Iran.

PIJCCI President Wali Muhammad expressed his gratitude to the ambassador for the hospitality.

He further said PIJCCI, together with the businessmen of both the countries, would set new examples of cooperation in trade and business related matters.

Vice President Khursheed Barlas said on the occasion that products of Pakistan and Iran were liked by the people of both the countries.

“Together we can build a joint platform to showcase these products, which could get export orders and also become a cause of initiation of joint ventures,” he said, adding, “This activity would ultimately lead to increase in the volume of trade between Pakistan and Iran.”

He presented a memento of PIJCCI to Honardoost, and hoped that cordial relations between the two countries would be further promoted.
