SWAT - The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak Sunday inaugurated the Phase-I construction project of University of Swat at Gulibagh. 

The CM ordered the project director to complete the construction work in stipulated time.  On this occasion, Minister for Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, Advisor to CM MPA Dr Haider Ali, MPA Fazal Hakim, MNA Saleem ur Rehman, notables of the area, faculty members and students of Swat varsity were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that provincial government is focused to improved education standards in the province while establishment of Swat University will be beneficial for the entire Malakand region which will certainly make bright the future of youth.

The CM said that the provincial government will bear 50 per cent expenditure incurred on phase 1 construction project of university and in this connection funds has already been released to the university authorities. 

He further added that a society can’t be successful without proper education measures; provincial government introduced reforms in education sector and ensured the teacher attendance in schools by establishing education monitoring system and providing quality education in government schools. 

He further said that the government allocated 500 million rupees for students who wanted to do research, government will bear its expenses while on demand of Vice chancellor Dr Jahan Bakht, CM approved IT and bio-diversity park at Kalam.

Vice Chancellor university of Swat Dr Jahan Bakht also spoke on the occasion and said that university was established in July 2010 in the area but due to unavailability of funds and lack of interest of the former government, the university has no building but now with the help of both provincial and federal governments, the construction of university building has been inaugurated which will be completed till 4th December 2018.

It is to mention here that ANP government established Swat University in their regime while it was actually announced in 1970 by then Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
