LAHORE: A young man yesterday drowned in the city canal near Muslim Town Morre, rescue workers said. The body was pulled out from the canal during a search and rescue operation.

The victim was named by police as 25-year-old Muhammad Adnan. The Edhi ambulance service shifted the body to the Services Hospital. Later, the police handed over the body to the family after fulfilling legal formalities.

Police said that Adnan along with his friends was taking a bath in the canal amid scorching heat yesterday afternoon when he suddenly disappeared into the deep waters.  One of his friends contacted the rescue workers by phone as the youth did not appear after a considerable time.–Staff Reporter

The rescue workers reached the spot within a few minutes and launched the search operation. The divers of the Recsue-1122 managed to pull out the body after a brief operation.

ACCIDENT: A 22-year-old man was killed while another wounded when a car smashed into a motorcycle near Phallu bus stop on the Ferozpur Road. The deceased was identified by police as 22-year-old Muhammad Altaf. The injured was shifted to Lahore general hospital. The police are investigating
