LAHORE - The PML-N will finalise names for the caretaker Punjab chief minister Thursday when both CM Shehbaz Sharif and Leader of Opposition Mehmood-ur-Rashid are expected to meet to table the proposed names of their sides and pick up one of them with consensus.

Sources say the PML-N top leadership held a meeting last day and discussed the names for the interim chief minister. The party will finalise two or three names for the provincial top slot. The party leaders are keeping names of expected caretaker Punjab CM close to the chest and final ones are expected to be announced Thursday. The Punjab is a very important province for the PML-N as its victory here matters greatly to form government at the Centre as well after the general elections. This is what happened following general elections 2013 when the PML-N also formed the federal government after conquering the province.

It may be mentioned that the PTI member and leader of the opposition has proposed the names of two eminent economists, Shahid Kardar and Salman Shah, as well as former FIA DG Tariq Masood Khosa for the interim chief minister slot.
