LAHORE - PTI on Tuesday called for holding an impartial probe into the two fire incidents which took place at LDA plaza in 2013 resulting into loss of valuable official record at that time.

Head of PTI’s anti-corruption committee, Shafqat Mehmood on Tuesday appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court to order an impartial inquiry into the fire incidents to expose the real motives.  Addressing a news conference here, the PTI leader said that valuable official record including illegal allotment of plots in Johar Town was burnt besides the loss of 27 precious lives.

He alleged that plots meant for widows, mosques and play grounds in Johar Town was allotted to favorites and were sold again and again in six different hands. He said no inquiry was conducted to ascertain the cause of fire in the two incidents happening one after the other.

He said that the then LDA Ahad Cheema was never interrogated for the two incidents.

Shafqat Mehmood said that according to the forensic report the second incident of fire at LDA plaza was not the result of any short-circuiting; rather it was a planned move to destroy the record. He appealed to the CJP and CJ LHC to conduct an impartial inquiry into the two incidents to unveil the real motives behind the incidents.
