LAHORE - The clinical reports have confirmed that Executive District Officer (Health), Lahore Dr Fayyaz Ahmad Ranjha is running dengue fever. Upon being diagnosed as a dengue patient, the doctors had stopped all medications and advised him complete bed rest for at least one week more and advised to take fluid intakes. The EDO Health fell ill last week and he took leaves on the recommendations of his physicians. Two senior doctors Prof Dr Javed Akram, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College and Professor of medicine Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Dr Muhammad Irshad are providing him with treatment at his Mayo Hospital official residence. Prof Dr Javed Akram told The Nation that the EDO Health Dr Fayyaz Ahmad Ranjha was suffering from multiple diseases at the same time including dengue fever, hypertension and typhoid. In the beginning, the dengue fever was not found in the clinical reports of Dr Fayyaz Ahmad Ranjha but when the investigations were repeated, he was tested positive as dengue fever. Dr Javed said that the EDO Health was under high risk of diabetes due to his overweight, which is 115kg. He is also suffering from post viral depression, he said. In view of unhealthy lifestyle of Dr Fayyaz Ahmad Ranjha, Dr Javed recommended him immediate reduction in weight and improvement in lifestyle. Dr Javed Akram said that being his personal physicians, he also advised him to avoid overeating, sweet food especially 'Halwa', which is his most favorite dish but causing increase in his weight. Dr Fayyaz was also advised gradually weight reduction of at least 25kg for his post viral Asthenia and post viral mental depression, he said, adding that at present he is recovering from dengue fever. He is expected to resume his duties next week.
