ISLAMABAD - Pakistan's female shooter Atliya Naz inked new South Asian record by winning the gold medal with 590 points in the 50-meter Rifle Prone's individual disciplines on Saturday here at Gun Club Shooting Range, Pakistan Sports Complex while hosts girls also claimed a gold medal in the team event of the same disciplines. Atliya Naz collected two gold medals on the opening day of the regional shooting competitions at the capital city of Pakistan. Women's team comprised Atliya Naz, Sajida and Sadia that aggregated 1746 points to win the gold. Indian team got the silver while Bangladesh received bronze medal in the four teams competition. Pakistan also won a bronze medal in men's 10-meter Air Rifle team fixture in which local shooters Siddique Umer, Naveed Anwar and Ayan Aamir grabbed 1733 points to reach at third place. Bangladesh lifted gold and India got silver in the similar event. However, Bangladesh started the first day leading with two gold and two bronze medals as Indians settled with four silver and Sri Lankan could manage only one bronze. In men's 10-meter Air Rifle competition, Bangladesh's Asif Hussain Khan won gold with 694.3 points, India's Imran Khan silver by scoring 692.2 and Bangladesh's Mohammad Imad Hussain took Bronze with an aggregate of 689.8. In the team event of same category, Bangladesh won gold with a score of 1761, India followed by scoring 1753 and winning Silver while Pakistan settled with Bronze at 1733. India's Meena won silver in the 50 meters Rifle Prone with a score of 588 while Sri Lankan Pardeepika lifted Bronze with 583 points. The medals were distributed in a colourful awards ceremony held in the club lawns after conclusion of all events.
