LAHORE The trouble-stricken Punjab Games were postponed for the fourth time for lack of funds. Although no official statement was issued by the Punjab Olympic Association on the postponement, but a source in the Olympic body said that no funds were released by the Punjab sports department. He said despite an announcement of a grant of Rs 5m by the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the provincial sports officials were deliberately delaying the release of the funds. The source said no preparatory camps were held to organise the event. The Games were scheduled to be held in the first week of December. but no date has been given as yet. Another source said that the Games could likely be held in mid January. If the Games are organised in January, it could spell new trouble for exams start from February and holding the events at that time could affect the academic activities of the athletes.
