A British court on Wednesday has given the decision and rejected the appeals of former captain Pakistan Cricket Team Salman Butt and fast bowler Mohammad Amir and upholds the sentences of both the players. Both the cricketers, who appealed against their sentences and not their convictions, did not attend the hearing at the Court of Appeal in London. In his judgment, Lord Judge, the Lord Chief Justice, described Butt as a malign influence rejected his lawyers plea for a reduced sentence. Upholding the sentences, he said: The game will be impoverished in the long term if this criminality is not sanctioned. Butt was sentenced to 30 months in jail, while Amir was detained for six months.
