LAHORE The speakers at a seminar have urged the government to focus on equipping the students with right skills and knowledge as maximum utilisation of the human resources is necessary ingredient to make Pakistan a developed country. They were addressing the Convocation 2011 of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology. Federal Minister for Science & Technology and Chancellor COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Changez Khan Jamali was the chief guest. Rector COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Dr S M Junaid Zaidi and Director Lahore Campus of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Dr Mehmood Ahmad also spoke on the occasion. Mian Anjum Nisar said in the knowledge race in the 21st century and rapid globalisation, the quality of higher education has to be enhanced at par with international standards for the sake of progress and prosperity. And to achieve the goal, the government would have to spend more on education as the existing budget is too meager to produce desired and required results. He said that it had now become very important to do all possible to help the next generation as today they are competing with the students from the developed world when they enter into the job market.
