NANKANA SAHIB - An introductory lecture highlighting the services of a planned hospital in Nankana Sahib was organised on Tuesday. The 5-storey state-of-the-art health facility having liver, gynaecology, eye and cardiology departments will be constructed at the cost of Rs150 million by the Khawaja Awais Welfare Foundation of Morkhunda. The lecture organised at the Nankana Sports Club was addressed by Mariam Hospital founder Khawaja Nooruz Zaman Awaisi and Islamabad Liver Transplant Unit In-charge Prof Dr Aftab Mohsin. Ex-EDO (Finance) Afzaal Ahmed, SP Investigation Masood Raza, Central Anjuman Tajran General Secretary Sheikh Shahid Mahmood, social worker Khan Babar Khan, advocate Asif Ali Bhatti and notables from Shah Kot, Sangla Hill, Buchaki, Mandi Faizabad, Syed Wala, Warbuton and Barha Garh attended the event. In his address, Khawaja Awaisi said the new hospital for the masses of the district would be constructed in just 18 months. About his Mariam Hospital, he said that more than 90,000 patients had already been provided medical treatment at nominal charges at the health facility in Morkhunda. It may be mentioned here that the German government has given two ambulances equipped with mobile operation theatres to the NGOs hospital. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Aftab Mohsin said that rural areas needed more attention and welfare hospitals for the betterment of the poor and needy.
