ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that government is pursuing a policy with the objective to achieve economic prosperity for the country and welfare of the people.

He expressed these views in a meeting with Legislators who called on him at the PM’s House.

He said that consistent efforts are underway to increase the generation of affordable energy along with conservation drive to narrow down the gap between demand and supply. He said that effective administrative measures have also been taken to check theft, misuse and line losses of electricity.

While emphasising on the need to accelerate the work on development schemes initiated by the present government, the Prime Minister urged the Legislators to focus their energies on the completion of ongoing projects specially those relating to roads construction, water and sanitation projects, electrification and gasification schemes in their areas so that the people start reaping its benefits as early as possible.

Raja Pervez also called upon the Parliamentarians to identify projects which are near completion so that they can be prioritised to ensure optimum utilisation of the development funds.

The Parliamentarians briefed the Prime Minister about the status of the development schemes in their respective areas. They also informed him about the issues related to their constituencies. The Legislators who called on the Prime Minister included MNAs, Usman Khan Tarakai, Yaqoob Bazinjo and Provincial Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zahir Ali Shah.
