ISLAMABAD - In the wake of Wednesday’s suicide attack that had spread a wave of terror in the twin cities, the authorities on Thursday sealed the federal capital which irked citizens especially motorists.

Even though it was a public holiday in the city in the wake of D-8 conference, however, a large number of citizens who came out to markets for shopping and other needs, faced problems as Islamabad police installed a number of barricades to block entry to various sectors of Islamabad capital.

Especially, the motorists coming from Bahara Kaho, Chak Shahzad, Rawal Town, Peshawar More, F-11 and Rawalpindi had to wait for hours due to traffic jams at Faizabad and 7th Avenue.

“The police authorities should have devised a master traffic plan to facilitate the citizens. You can observe long queues at any police picket/barricade installed at every entrance of Islamabad.

They are constant headache,” Musharraf Hameed, a doctor by profession, told TheNation. He claimed that he was stuck at the police barricade installed at Shakar Parian Chowk.

Situation was not that different even in the heart of capital city of Islamabad. Red zone was completely sealed for private vehicles. Heavy police contingent was deployed there while troops of Pakistan army and rangers have been patrolling all the day in red zone. Besides that commandoes of Pakistan army were given responsibility of security of presidency.

The troops of Pakistan have assisted Islamabad police to protect the red zone, diplomatic enclave and the Constitutional Avenue. When contacted on Thursday, a spokesperson of Islamabad police admitted that citizens have to face some problems on Thursday, however, he said police have to adopt certain security measures just to keep the terrorists at length.  “We know, that certain security measures taken by police have irked the citizens. However they are requested to cooperate with police during these days as the terrorists ate trying to sabotage peace of country,” Spokesperson said.
