Japan to grant $4.7m for flood victims


ISLAMABAD - The Government of Japan on Thursday decided to provide $ 4.7 million to Pakistan for assistance of flood victims.
The said aid would be spent for providing humanitarian assistance to the flood affectees through the United Nations agencies. Of the allocated $ 4.7m, the World Food Programme (WFP) would get $ 2.9m for ensuring food security for flood victims, International Organisation for Migration (IOM) would get $ 1 million for providing shelters and non-food items to flood affectees while UN Human Settlements Programme (UNHABITT) would get $ 0.8 million for water and sanitation provision.
Earlier on November 9, the Japanese government had provided emergency relief goods for flood victims.
