MULTAN - Police contingents carried out flag march to show preparedness for the upcoming Ashura, 10th of Muharram, here on Thursday. Dozens of police vehicles blowing sirens marched on city roads under the leadership of CPO Amir Zulfiqar Khan. The Rescue 1122 personnel, fire fighters and Solid Waste Management vehicles also participated in the flag march. The flag march took a round of sensitive areas of the city and routes of Ashura processions.

On the occasion, the CPO said that foolproof security arrangements had made to thwart vicious designs of terrorists. He added that besides installation of CCTV cameras, cops in plainclothes would also be deployed to guard the routes of processions.

Meanwhile, the district administration has set up a control room at the Commissioner office to maintain law and order on Ashura. Additional Commissioner Coordination Maqbool Abbasi will be the in-charge of the control room and staffers are deployed to listen to public’s complaints regarding Muharram.
