Stoking fires

The open sale of petrol and diesel at illegal shops in Karachi is a hazard to many lives. Areas of Orangi and Katchi Abadies being the main hub, there seems to be an absence of law and order in these areas. The police and civil administration which could have played an effective role in curbing this menace are involved in this illegal trade themselves.
There can be no crime without police protection in this large city. This illegal sale of petrol and petroleum products is against the violation of Petroleum Act 1934 and Petroleum Rules 1937. It is the responsibility of OGRA, Chief Secretary and Commissioner Karachi to take firm action and impose a ban on illegal sale of petrol. The area police should also be held responsible for such acts of lawlessness.
