Pakistani nation united against terror: COAS

STANFORD - Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Saturday said Pakistani nation stands united against the scourge of terrorism. Addressing a ceremony, General Raheel Sharif said Pakistan is from among the bravest and greatest nations of the world. He said Pakistan has paid a heavy price in the war against terrorism and rendered more sacrifices than any other nation.
The army chief said the world should acknowledge Pakistan’s fight against terrorism.
Earlier, General Raheel Sharif visited the US National Training Center, where he held meetings with the officials of the US armed forces.General Raheel Sharif, who is currently on a seven-day official tour of the United States, arrived at the US National Training Center in California on Saturday. During his visit, the chief of Pakistan Army held meetings with the US military officials and observed different training facilities at the center.
On this occasion, the COAS praised the training system of the American forces.
The army chief also visited Fort Irwin Training Center, where he was briefed about affairs pertaining to the training of US marines and the use of modern warfare equipment.
General Raheel has so far visited several high-profile offices of the United States including the Pentagon, during which he held meetings with different civil and military dignitaries.
At the State Department, Gen Sharif met Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Dan Feldman. At the White House, he met National Security Adviser Susan Rice and at the Pentagon, he met Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen Martin Dempsey along with Deputy Defence Secretary Robert Work and separately with the US army chief. Gen Sharif, who has spent quite a considerable amount of time with leaders of the US Central Command in Tampa, also met some of the influential lawmakers including heads of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Armed Services Committee.
